Adrian White, a researcher in psychology at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, has established its “global map of subjective well-being” by crossing hundreds of studies throughout the world. Among these national surveys of life satisfaction and the data published by UNESCO, WHO and the “World Report on Human Development ‘prepared annually by the United Nations.

Adrian White gave priority to socio-economic criteria such as life expectancy, access to education and per capita GDP. So are among the top ten ranking of six countries in Western Europe, including four Nordic known for their generous welfare systems. France, for example, does that ranks 62nd out of 178.
